Scott Woods has been exploring music since he was a child, learning to play drums at age eight, and soon following with guitar. The guitar quickly became his love and main instrument. During high school in Colorado, he played rhythm guitar and percussion in the back-up band for a touring music and dance company. This was his first taste of serious ensemble performance with an emphasis on personal expression. This experience was pivotal and inspired Scott to seriously pursue his musical dream.
After visiting New Orleans in 1990, that magical city and the live music scene there captivated him. Catching acts like The Funky Meters, Walter Wolfman Washington, J.D. and the Jammers, John Mooney, Snooks Eaglin and George Porter, gave Scott a glimpse of a deeper more moving and grooving side of music. New Orleans was the place to be to absorb these pure traditional blends of American and World music. Scott knew this was the place to get started. He moved to the Crescent City in August of 1991, and within a few months, assembled his first band, Fat Jack. Fat Jack's line-up was Scott-Guitar, Vox, Percussion, Don Williams - Guitar (The Revealers, Ya Ya Soul), Greg Baba - Drums (King Johnson), Paul Longstreth - Keyboards (Cronk), Tim Kinsella (Lt. CMDR. DATA) - Bass. Playing in and around New Orleans created the foundation of Scott's funky musical style. He moved back home to Colorado in 1993 to attend University of Colorado at Denver music school.
After four years of studying, playing clubs and touring around Colorado with varius bands, Scott moved to San Francisco. Here he founded the funk band Urban Funk Machine (UFM). UFM's lineup was Scott - Guitar, Eamonn Flynn - Keys, Andy Birchett - Bass, Darius Minaee - Drums, and a rotating group of some of the Bay Area's finest horn players including Mike Rinta, Joel Behrman, Joe Cohen, Fil Lorenz, Danny Grewen, and Joel Ryan. Scott launched UFM into full action, producing their debut CD, UFM Crosscontagulation! and playing around the Bay Area and West Coast at hot spots such as the Boom Boom Room, Brunos, Last Day Saloon and the Great American Music Hall, as well as at the San Francisco Funk Festival and the North Beach Jazz Festival. They were honored to play shows with funky masters Zigaboo Modeliste, Masters of Groove, Irvin Mayfield and the Rebirth Brass Band.

Scott recently released his new CD, "Late Night Radio", in late 2007. The new album was produced by Scott and renowned producer/bassist Myron Dove (Santana, Robben Ford, Dave Maniketti). Special guests include legendary New Orleans bassist George Porter Jr. (The Meters) and drummer Dennis Chambers (P-Funk, Santana). Also appearing on "Late Night Radio"...Myron Dove-Bass, Mike Rinta-Trombone (Brass Monkey Brass Band, Sly & the Family Stone), Darian Gray-Drums (Dynamic), Pete Booras-Drums, Karl Perazzo – Percussion (Santana) Margo LeDuc-Vocals, Krystle Jones - Vocals, Tony Lindsey-Vocals (Santana), Eamonn Flynn-Keys (Zigaboo Modeliste, Spearhead, Tony Lindsey), Jeff Cohen-Drums (Eric McFadden), Andy Birchett-Bass (UFM).
